How do I buy online?
The purchasing process is very simple, whether it is the first time you buy at www.thebookandtoycompany.com or if you have already purchased before as no registration or prior data entry is required. Just follow the following steps:

- Select: choose the desired product, click on it, then a detailed description of the product will appear, as well as related products. If you decide to buy it, on that same screen you can see the shopping cart image, click on the quantity and that’s it.
- Buy: once the product is in the cart, proceed to finalize the purchase, or continue browsing to add more products to the shopping cart. If you decide to finalize the purchase here, you must click on “process order” and a form will appear where you must provide the customer’s information. If it is the first time you buy on our Site, all the requested information must be included. If however, you are already an existing customer, only the requested fileds need to be filled out.
- Confirm: once the information is completed, all that remains is to confirm the order and choose the payment method. Upon completing your order, you will be sent an email confirming receipt, and specifying all the details of the order, such as, for example, the payment method chosen, shipping address indicated, among others. If there is an error in the address indicated or in any other point of the order, you must notify it immediately to the email shoponline@thebookandtoycompany.com, to proceed with correcting the error.
What are the payment options?
All our prices are expressed in colones, legal tender of the Republic of Costa Rica. To make any Book & Toy purchase online, the user may use any credit or debit card as a means of payment.
Book & Toy is not responsible for purchases made on the site with the use of lost and/or stolen credit cards because our portal cannot detect these cases, nor does it have the power to deny the sale if the issuing bank has authorized the transaction.
What are my shipping options?
When making the purchase on the site, you have the option to choose whether you want home delivery or pickup from the store. If you select home delivery, it will be done through the transportation company that Book & Toy selects for these purposes.
IMPORTANT While the site is designed to receive online purchases from anywhere in the world, deliveries can only be made within the national territory.
My card gives me an error and I can’t complete the payment even though the necessary funds are available.
Most denied transactions are caused by card limits. Check with your bank to be able to increase the daily, weekly or monthly limit. The second most common mistake is trying to make the payment with a very old or outdated browser. Bank payment gateways require an updated browser to ensure the safety of your financial and personal data. Try updating your browser or make the purchase from a different browser.
Are my card details secure?
All information that the client reveals at the time of registering on the Site or at the time of making a purchase (personal and non-personalized identifiable information) will be treated only by the personnel designated for these purposes with absolute confidentiality and privacy, with the sole objective of approval and shipping of online purchases, as well as the prospecting and offering of other products and services all in accordance with the Law on the Protection of Individuals against the Processing of their Personal Data (LAW NUMBER 8968).

Can I return my purchase if the product is in perfect condition, but I have changed my mind?
If for any reason the customer is not satisfied (the product is simply not what they expected or they do not like it) they must inform Book & Toy within 48 hours of receiving the product to proceed with the refund of the money for the item itself. This is applicable only to online purchases. The products must be sent to the Costa Rica post office branch in Escazú (Aptdo 550-1250), in the name of The Book & Toy Company or you can return it to the store in Santa Ana. The item must be in perfect condition. Shipping and transportation costs will not be refundable. This right to a refund or replacement of the product is different from the warranty right that the customer enjoys in accordance with Costa Rican legislation.
Book & Toy gives the customer a period of 48 hours from the delivery of the product to coordinate with Book & Toy the return or exchange of the product if required. In the event that the customer wishes to exchange the product for a new one that has a commercial value greater than the one the customer purchased, they must pay the difference. Partial product returns are not accepted. After the 48-hour period has elapsed without having communicated the desire to withdraw, no request to return the product will be accepted.
Returns will not be accepted in the following cases:

- When more than 48 hours have passed since the purchase was made.
- When the product or packaging is in poor condition, it cannot be beaten, scratched or mistreated in any way.
- When the product is incomplete, is missing accessories, instructions or is in any way manipulated, used and/or broken.
- When the products have been personalized or are not returnable for hygiene or other reasons.
- When proof of purchase and delivery document are not provided.
A refund will be made once we receive the product in the warehouse or at the store and are able to verify that it is in perfect condition.
The customer may only make use of this right to refund or exchange items due to non-satisfaction twice a year.
What is my order number?
The order number appears in the email you receive with the invoice after completing a purchase. If you do not find it, you can contact us via email at shoponline@thebookandtoycompany.com where we will help you recover it.
Do the products have a warranty?
Factory warranty claims. In the event that a product purchased through the site is found defective, the client must notify Book & Toy within a period of 30 calendar days. Book & Toy will proceed as appropriate, to the evaluation, repair, replacement. or refund which will be free for the end consumer. Each item in Book & Toy has a factory warranty
assigned, which the customer can claim within 30 calendar days from the delivery of the product.

How will I receive payment for my return?
Once the return is authorized, we will request payment refund to the cardholder from the bank issuing the debit or credit card used for payment. The refund time will depend on the issuing bank and the term will be from 3 to 45 business days. Note that the time to complete a credit or debit card refund is dictated by the issuing bank and completely out of the control of Book & Toy.

I would like an item that is not available, what can I do?
Availability of an item is stated on the website. If the product you want appears unavailable, you may contact us to order it. If it is definitely out of stock, we will recommend other products with similar attributes as we have a wide variety of products.
Although we always try to maintain an accurate stock count, at times a product is out of stock at the point of licking and packing. If this happens, we will contact you to offer a solution. If you decide that without that product you are not interested in the rest of the order, we will cancel the shipment and refund your money. If you prefer to wait, we will send you the rest of the items that you have ordered from us and when we have the missing item we will send it to you. In this case, the cost of the second shipment will be on us.
Can I make purchases outside of Costa Rica?
This Site is designed to receive online purchases from anywhere in the world. Nevertheless, deliveries can only be made within Costa Rica and will be carried out by the delivery company selected by Book & Toy for such purposes.
